Gay Roulette: Who’s Going to Be Next?
Got nothing to do? Are you extremely bored? Then, you’ve probably haven’t heard of gay roulette. It’s the newest internet craze and as one blogger puts it, it is the internet uncensored. Basically gay roulette is like chat roulette, but with specific target gay users.
For those who are unfamiliar with the concept of chat roulette, it is a chat website. But unlike ordinary chat websites, chat roulette pairs you off with a random stranger. You can simply chat with stranger through text or you can use webcams and audio devices. The website initially pairs you off with an online chatter, if at any point you want to leave the current conversation you’re in you just click on a link which initiates another random connection. A user whose chat mate clicks the link to a random connection, is referred to as being “nexted”.
The website was created by Andrey Tenovskiy, a seventeen-year old high school student from Russia. The site was launched late in 2009, and started with around 500 users each day. A month after it was launched, the number of users went up to as high as 50, 000. Currently, there are about 1.5 million users and at any given time each day, there are about 35,000 users online. With that kind of statistics, it really shows how much fun and exciting using chat roulette must be.
The website has already been published in The New York Times, The New Yorker, and New York Magazine. It was also featured on Good Morning America and The daily Show with Jon Stewart. It was even imitated on an episode of South Park.
Celebrities are also into chat roulette. Kelly Osbourne, Justin Bieber, Daniel Tosh, Ashton Kutcher, Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, Kevin Smith, and Paris Hilton are just some of the celebrities who admitted that they have used chat roulette.
The site has also been used to stream performances. For example, Faith No More streamed their performance at the Soundwave Festival, in Melbourne, Australia, last February 27, 2010.
The fun of using this site probably comes with the excitement of not knowing who you’re going to be paired up next. The people you meet at sites like this are completely random. You could meet anyone from almost everywhere. You could be paired up with a person wearing a mask dancing to the tune of “Careless Whisper.” There are chatters who go online impersonating different celebrities. There is one person who acts as if he’s a psychotherapist and talks with you as if you were mental patient. There are even reports of chatters setting up a pretend murder scene just to scare their chat companion. You might even get paired up with someone wearing no clothes at all.
There are a number of gay roulette sites on the internet right now. Some men chat on gay roulette sites to look for someone to go out with. Others are just in it for the fun and the unexpected scenes.
Gay roulette site are a great way to meet people. Put in mind, however, that whatever you do while chatting could be taken as a screen shot by your chat companion. Just a word of advice—just be careful. And have fun!
